Our firm was created in 1979 to provide specialized legal services to the insurance industry. That continues to be the focus of our practice. All lawyers in the firm are involved almost exclusively in insurance litigation. We have appeared before all levels of the courts of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of Canada and administrative tribunals.

Members of the firm have experience in most areas of insurance law including bodily and personal injury, product liability, fire losses (subrogation and defense), course of construction, business interruption, surety and fidelity bonding, marine, libel and slander, wrongful dismissal, environmental, boiler and machinery, life insurance, and coverage. We also have an extensive practice devoted to the defense and coverage of professional liability claims involving lawyers, architects and engineers, real estate agents and brokers, insurance agents and brokers, accountants, appraisers, land surveyors and corporate directors and officers. Clients’ needs are served by lawyers with special expertise and at an experience level appropriate to the issues and the clients’ economic interests.

Since most of the work of the firm involves the provision of legal services for the insurance industry, we are sensitive to industry concerns with respect to efficient delivery and cost of legal services. We have been a leader in designing and providing cost effective legal programs sensitive to clients’ commercial requirements. Our legal services have been tailored to achieve early resolution of claims at an acceptable cost. Traditional methods of resolving claims through the court system are often uneconomic. Consequently, we have developed considerable expertise in alternative dispute resolution methods and file handling procedures which encourage the early resolution of claims.
