Brownlee LLP is the successor partnership to the law practice commenced by the late John E. Brownlee, Q.C., LL.D. (1884-1961) in the 1920’s interrupted when he was Premier of the Province of Alberta and then re-established and continued from 1935 to the present time.

Our offices are located in Edmonton and Calgary. Most of our lawyers are engaged in civil litigation. Brownlee LLP lawyers have appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, the Supreme Court of Canada and many administrative tribunals.

We have a strong insurance focus and, as a result, much of the firm’s litigation practice could be characterized as “defense” oriented. We have developed expertise in resolving claims involving all lines of insurance. The firm also handles a significant amount of other litigation including construction, constitutional, commercial, municipal, environmental and labour matters. We also act for many self-insured entities.
